Orange Democratic Movement party leader Hon Raila Odinga returned to Western Kenya where escalated his anti-government rallies. The vocal opposition leader was accompanied by his close allies majorly from the ODM party and Vihiga county.
While addressing residents of Luanda, Makadara constituency Member of Parliament Hon George Aladwa announced that he will not defend his seat in the upcoming 2027 General elections.
The vocal city lawmaker said that he will instead contest for Vihiga county gubernatorial seat. He told residents of Vihiga county that he will return one day and address them on why he wanted to become their next governor.
Currently, governor Wilberforce Otichilo is serving his second and last term as the governor of Vihiga county. He is barred from vying for the next term as per the Constitution.
The vocal ally and supporter of Raila Odinga wants to emulate Kisii county governor Simba Arati who moved from Nairobi politics and went to contest for the gubernatorial seat on his home turf during the 2022 general election. All attention will focus on George Aladwa to see if he will succeed in becoming the new governor of Vihiga county.
