Deputy President William Ruto has once again received a positive prediction regarding his 2022 presidential bid.
The DP is among the politicians who have declared their interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is serving his second and final term in office.
Nominated MP Gideon Keter has foreseen victorious days ahead for him, predicting that he will sweep across the Rift Valley region despite the existence of an opposing force.
He says that those trying to make things hard for Ruto, in reference to Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, will be left humiliated as the region wholly supports the DP, who is closer to the top seat than any other person.
“Ruto is just a stone’s throw away from the highest office. We will vote for him overwhelmingly in 2022 and support him to take over power after President Kenyatta,” he told the Nation.
He told the paper on Thursday that Ruto has everything he needs to mount a serious campaign and will not be relying on external endorsements.
For him, Ruto has twice mounted serious and victorious campaigns for other people; Uhuru in 2013 and 2017 and ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2007, which means that he can only do better this time that he is doing it for himself.
“Ruto is his own man and will not depend on any endorsement from political bigwigs to clinch the presidency," the MP, an ally of the DP, is further quoted.
His prediction, however, comes at a time when the DP seems isolated, with majority of the remaining top political figures uniting against him, under Uhuru and Raila and their Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
