The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has moments ago forwarded a list containing 241 names of aspirants eyeing various political seats that are ineligible to vie for the seats in the August 8th general elections to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). This is in a bid to block the 241 aspirants who are facing various corruption cases from contesting in the August 9 polls.
Some of the reasons that were raised by the anti-graft body include corruption allegations, questionable academic qualifications, failure to resign from public service before the deadline which was on February 9, 2022, abuse of office among reasons.
In the letter as seen by Kenyans.co.ke, according to EACC, the 241 that have been barred to vie for the various seats include outgoing Murang'a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Evans Kidero, Kirinyaga's Anne Mumbi Waiguru and former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko. The above are said to have failed the integrity test owing to active corruption cases that are still pending against them.

The list also contains other big names such as, Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Boss Shollei, former CAS Chris Obure, Sirisia MP John Waluke, Teso South parliamentary hopeful Sospeter Ojamong and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.
Among the presidential aspirants that were blacklisted are, Wa Iria of Usawa Kwa Wote Party, Republican Party presidential running mate Matayo Jared and Justus Onyango of Justice and Freedom Party.
