National Police Issue Statement After Teargas was Thrown At Karua's Rally In Kisii

The Kenya National Police Service has issued a follow up statement concerning the incident in which the Azimio One Kenya Alliance running mate Martha Karua's ended was attacked by a teargas carnitas. According to an earlier statement by the police, the matter was under strict follow up and that the preliminary information has shown that the person responsible was a police officer.

According to Bruno Shioso, the national Police spokesman, the police officer who threw the teargas has been arrested and is currently being held by the police for further investigation. Shioso has said that the DCI sleuths will be determining why the officer threw the carnitas and what prompted him to do so.

"The public shall be appraised on the progress of the investigation," Mr Shioso wrote through a letter addressed to the media.

Martha Karua was campaigning for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance in Kisii county where she was was forced to end the rally prematurely after her security detail evacuated her from the dias.
