President William Samoei Arap Ruto's Administration has threatened to go after powerful individuals who did not follow due diligence while giving a lisence to Uproot Baobabs trees in Kilifi county.
Speaking today while stoping the move the Ministry of Environment has cancelled any movement of baobabs hours after president William Ruto ordered a probe into mass uprooting of the trees in Kilifi County.
This comes after the Cabinet Secretary for Environment Soipan Tuya has finally instructed Kenya Forestry Service to cancel movement of the trees pending assessment of the case.
Speaking to the Press, Soipan Tuya Revealed that the company had applied for access permit from National Environment Management Authority on October 28 however it went ahead to Uproot the tress even before NEMA issued the full license.
The private company and communities in Kilifi is said to have entered into an agreement to uproot eight tree for export from Tezo location in the county to Georgia.
