During today's proceedings the senators were discussing the issue of rise in fuel prices. The senators demanded the minister of energy to hold a press conference and answer to Kenyans on why the fuel prices have risen drastically. This has affected the transport sector manufacturing because they depend on fuel.
The CS was summoned to appear on the Senate by Thursday because he is accountable to parliament according to the constitution. So many Kenyans have been affected by the rise of fuel especially those who depend on kerosene which has rose by 12 shilling per litre.
Senators while addressing the house said increase in fuel prices is a serious issue that can bring unrest among Kenyans. The senators also want the national assembly to work with treasury on the issue of fuel taxes since the Senate does not have the power to discuss tax.
