Kenyans React After What ODM MPs Termed Hustler Fund

A portion of the members of the opposition in Parliament have referred to the recently launched hustler fund as a pyramid scheme with the intention of displacing banks and other types of small lenders.

Anthony Oluoch, a member of Parliament for Mathare, as well as his counterpart for Embakasi east, have raised concerns over the legitimacy of the monies as well as the source from which they came.

Oluoch, in particular, had issues with the procedure that the government led by William Ruto utilized to establish the fund.

He asserted that in order to meet the December 1 launch deadline, the government had taken measures to sidestep Parliament.

"The government is in the process of establishing a KES 50 billion fund through the use of regulation, which is an insult to the role that parliament plays. Oluoch stated that what is taking place is a farce and not what had been promised to the people of Kenya.

In addition, he raised questions about the origin of the cash, implying that the money might have been taken from the CDF.

Owino, for his part, was not persuaded by the conditions of the loans. He questioned why Kenyans were required to pay back any money that they borrowed, given that the money comes from their taxes.

The members of parliament have sworn to put a halt to any expenditure that is not in accordance with the established legislation which calls for the combination of the various funds provided by the government into a single account.

On the other hand, many people who commented online voiced their displeasure at the remarks, and several of them advised the younger members of parliament not to simply oppose things for the sake of opposing them.

Dan:Sasa Azimio ju lazima wapinge kila kitu wameanza kutetea shylocks na predatory lenders.

Wanjala:What exactly is the problem with that? As long as Kenyans are benefiting from it, I have no problem with it.

Wilfred: They predicted that it would not take place.

And now that it has actually taken place, they are beginning to... oh oh. Hawa watu bwana!!
