Kenya-Uganda bond is growing stronger - Ruto says after meeting Museveni

The good friendship between Kenya and its neighbor Uganda will remain, according to President William Ruto.

Ruto, who flew to Uganda on Saturday, spent the night there before the country's Independence Day celebration on Sunday, which he will be a part of.

In his remarks, the president of Kenya expressed confidence in the future of the bilateral ties between the two countries.

"I had a wonderful meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House in Entebbe, Uganda, ahead of tomorrow's festivities of the country's 60th anniversary of independence. Kenya and Uganda's relationship is getting stronger "On Facebook, he posted.

The visit comes just after a diplomatic standoff that was threatened as a result of Muhoozi Kaineguraba, Museveni's son, posting some contentious tweets.

Kenyans were outraged by his promise to invade Nairobi with his troops in less than two weeks, and some even demanded that the Kenyan envoy to Uganda be withdrawn.

However, Museveni apologized to Kenya and separated Uganda from the tweets.
