Presidential Poll Petition: High Court Blocks CJ Koome From Gagging Lawyers

A section of lawyers have moved to court to block the chief justice Martha Koome from gagging lawyers. This is an act by a judge to deny lawyers the free will of making comments on social media of an ongoing petition.

The presidential election petition is expected to be filed by Azimio coalition. Raila Odinga together with Martha Karua will be fighting the legality of Chebukati in declaring the results. Remember four commissioners were in dispute on the total tally.

The ruling made by justice Mugure Thande is a big blow to justice Koome. She will not have any authority of denying any advocate of posting what he or she likes. This has been termed by most people to be unconstitutional, unreasonable and against the morality of the legal field.

Freedom of expression is in the constitution of Kenya. The ruling is supposed to grant Kenyans especially in the legal profession free from prosecution.
