The Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati has for the first time spoken following the appointment of Ezra Chiloba who will be in charge of the Communications Authority of Kenya.
Chiloba's appointment has elicited mixed reactions from Netizens as he is expected to play a vital role in the 2022 general where he will be tasked with ensuring that all polling stations are connected to a 3G or a 4G network for the transmission of results.
In his address to the press, Wafula Chebukati has admitted to having been surprised by the appointment of Chiloba as the Director-General of the agency and that he had no prior knowledge that Chiloba was set to land such a lucrative position and only heard of it through media publications.
Chebukati downplayed any bad blood that exists between them and vowed that the commission was ready to work with Chiloba to ensure that the next general elections is a success.
"The circumstances under which he left are in the public domain and as a commission, we have also read in the papers like you that he was competitively recruited and all I can say is that we wish him well in his new assignment," Chebukati stated.
