Speculations As Veteran Senator Goes Missing In Action

Whereas his counterparts have hit the road running in readiness for the August 9 general election, Kisumu Senator Fredrick Otieno Outa appears to be in no hurry.

Having opted to take a low political profile, Outa has left many speculating on his game plan with only five months remaining to the next poll.

Having fallen out with Governor Peter Anyang' Nyong'o, Outa was tipped to challenge the incumbent for the position during the 2022 contest. However, with slightly over 160 days remaining to election, the former Nyando MP is yet to come out openly to declare his bid.

Already, Prof. Nyong'o has launched his re-election bid with former Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura emerging as his biggest threat. As all this goes on, Outa is not in the picture as he maintains an uncharacteristic silence.

Taking advantage of his prolonged absence, renowned legal scholar Prof. Tom Ojienda, has launched his senatorial bid.

Prof. Ojienda is banking on his close relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga to springboard his political ambitions.

Unless Outa comes out as soon as possible, his political career is under serious threat. But could it be that he is still undecided on whether to challenge Prof. Nyong'o or to defend his senator position?

As one of the biggest names in Nyanza politics, Outa should know that any single blunder can easily end up costing one's political career. With this in mind, he should come out and give his supporters direction. If not, his rivals will capitalize on this tactful edge him out.
