Deputy President of the republic of Kenya was nowhere to be seen today in State House in a meeting which was attended by all the officers in the senior ranks in the Executive. During their first term in office, the second in command was always with the president in every meeting and event in the state house but recently, his absence has been very evident in every event the president has been doing. Todays meeting has been converned so that the head of state could outline to the officers his vision for the Big 4 Agenda which the president made know to the nation when he took over the presidency for the second time.
The cabinet secretary for Interior Fred Matiang'i was sitting at the dais next to the president which did not go well with Ruto's supporters after the photo was uploaded in the state house twitter account. Many users wondered why the deputy president was not there and yet he is also part of the executive. Matiang'i was tasked by the president to be the one to oversee the government projects a role the deputy president has been doing. The interior secretary was given the role of chairing cabinet meetings when the president is not there and this move made some people to believe that the president was indeed trying to bring his deputy down.
