Charity Ngilu Compares Ruto's Statements in 2013 And 2022 Concerning Food Prices

Charity Ngilu has come out strongly to criticize Deputy President William Ruto over his sentiments over soaring food prices. William Ruto had expressed regret that a packet of Maize flour is retailing at Sh 200. He further said that if elected as president in August, he will immediately lower food prices and high cost of living.

The outgoing Kitui governor then posted a tweet DP William Ruto made in 2013. At that time, DP Ruto was campaigning with President Uhuru to succeed Mwai Kibaki. He had promised that in 100 days under their administration they would lower food prices if elected.

Ngilu called out DP Ruto over those two contradicting statements. She accused the deputy president of peddling empty promises. Ngilu has been a strong critic of William Ruto. The once political friends have turned nemesis. Ngilu worked as a cabinet secretary for Water under Uhuruto first term. In 2017, Ngilu changed political affiliations and joined NASA. In a past political rally, Ngilu says she switches off television whenever DP Ruto is on air.
