Four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioners stated that the presidential election results were tainted by errors, particularly during the last phases of tallying. Hon. Aden Duale, the recently elected Member of Parliament for the Township of Garrisa, has reacted.
The former majority leader of the National Assembly said on social media that William Ruto is unaffected by the four IEBC commissioners' decision to withhold the results of the presidential election.
In accordance with Duale, only the IEBC chairperson is authorized by the Constitution's article 138(10)(a) to announce the presidential winner seven days following the presidential election.
He added that there are no legal repercussions to the four commissioners' acts. Following the disavowal of the election results by the four commissioners, who cited an opaque final procedure, this has happened.
During the announcement of the results, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati noted that certain commissioners had received information while others had not. But he did deliver the nation's presidential announcement.
