Jimmy Wanjigi has been one of the main financers of presidential elections in Kenya. The business mogul is very wealthy having assets amounting to billions. Through the ODM party he has vowed to run for the presidency. According to him it is time for a new crop of leaders to run the country.
The businessman had urged ODM leader Raila Odinga to retire from politics. At the same time he has asked president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy to go home together after the 2022 general elections. "Kenyans are tired of the same faces all over again, it is time to offer new faces and personalities," Wanjigi said to the media.
This latest move has caused confusion among Kenyans. This is because they know that Raila Odinga intend to make a fifth stab at the presidency. This is his last attempt due to his age. Allowing Jimmy Wanjigi to campaign using the ODM party without saying anything is a whole other issue.
Political analysts believe this is just public relations to market the Orange Democratic Movement. Their focus mainly is directed to the Mount Kenya region.
