Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has told off some of the African leaders who have already sent their congratulatory messages to Deputy President William Ruto after IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared him as president-elect.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle, the outspoken Embakasi East MP told the African leaders to stop mingling in Kenyan affairs, saying that Kenya is a sovereign state. He also warned some election observers and the international media house which had called the August 9 election for William Ruto.
"I want to take this opportunity to warn the international media, the observers, and some of the presidents in Africa who have taken their time to congratulate Ruto for having been elected. I want to tell and inform them that Kenya is a sovereign, independent state with its sovereign powers, its own rules and regulations, and its own laws. "Therefore, they need to keep off. We don't need you to meddle and mingle with the affairs of Kenyans.," MP Babu Owino said.
African leaders, among them Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), Samia Suluhu (Tanzania), Abiy Mohamed (Ethiopia) and Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), have already sent in their congratulatory messages to DP Ruto.
