Former KETRACO Boss Fernandes Barasa is eying the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat, Dr. Brian Lishenga Senatorial seat and Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda will be defending her Woman Representative seat. They are the ODM candidates for the County's top seats.
Today, the three have pitched camp in Shinyalu Constituency where they took the Azimio La Umoja Movement campaigned. They managed to pull a huge crowd and used the opportunity to promote their candidaturers and that of Azimio presidential flag bearer Hon Raila Odinga.

Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya was not present since he is part of Raila's entourage to the United States of America. The politics of Kakamega is very competitive since Azimio La Umoja and DP William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance coalitions are both popular here.
The gubernatorial race has also attracted Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula of DAP-K and Senator Cleophas Malala of Amani National Congress Party.
