Ruto's Mt Kenya Allies Speak Out, Allege What Uhuru's Officials Are Doing to Them

Allies of Deputy President William Ruto have now opened the lid on what is allegedly being done to them by President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.

Ruto has managed to win over a group of former allies of Uhuru, who are now accompanying him to his campaigns as he eyes the presidency next year.

But the group, especially those from Mt Kenya, has claimed that top state officials are manipulating them, all in a bid to have them drop support for Ruto.

Speaking in Nyandarua, they said that the team includes Provincial administrators who are coercing them to support ODM leader Raila Odinga instead.

But they held that no amount of coercion will push them away from the DP, with Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua saying that their position will stand.

"We will not allow the police and provincial administrators to dictate to us the direction we will take as a people of Mt Kenya," said the lawmaker.

His remarks were echoed by Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki, who stated that they are used to what's being done to them and are ready for more.

"We are used to them coming after us. They cannot shake us. However, we urge them to leave ordinary citizens out of this," said the senator.

Gachagua is not new to making such claims and has repeatedly accused the Interior ministry of being used by the executive to dictate what happens.

Ruto called upon Kenyans to elect the right people and not those who will abandon them once in office.
