Western Kenya region is well known for Raila Odinga. For the past ten years or so, he has been the commandant of more than 80% of the total votes of the Western Kenya region.
However, the internal conflicts within the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance brought up by the current behavior of the Jubilee Party, a key affiliate party, have resulted in a further split up in the coalition.
The party leader of the Democratic Action Party, Eugene Wamalwa, has announced his early candidature for the presidential election in 2027. This happens at a time when Raila Odinga is slowly losing his ground due to the heated scramble for who should steer the Azimio coalition forward.
Eugene Wamalwa expressed his confidence in defeating the incumbent President, William Ruto, fairly and squarely. He claimed that he has laid down a clear and workable plan that will see him pass through to become the 6th President of the Republic of Kenya.
Eugene Wamalwa enjoys massive support from Western Kenya, with votes sufficient to make any candidate the President of the Republic of Kenya. Western Kenya has about 5 million voters. Besides, Eugene Wamalwa might be supported by both the Western Kenya region, Nyanza region, and other regions allied to Azimio.
Eugene Wamalwa and Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders led by the three core principals; Musalia Mudavadi, President William Ruto, and Moses Wetangula have a relationship like the one between water and oil.
