The race to succeed outgoing Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has now narrowed to a four horse race after one of the candidates pulled out of the race today 6th July, 2022 just as it remains 15 days to general elections.

According to a reliable source, the Maendeleo Chap (MCC) gubernatorial candidate Eng. Francis Maliti has officially pulled out of the race and endorsed the Wiper Party candidate Wavinya Ndeti.

To surprise, Maliti's last minute move comes just two days after his runningmate Rose Wambua abandoned him and defected to Nzioka Waita's camp on Sunday 24th July, 2022. Maliti is the current Machakos deputy governor and is a member of the Maendeleo Chap Chap which is led by Dr. Alfred Mutua who is currently drumming up the support of the Kenya Kwanza.

As a result, Wavinya Ndeti's gubernatorial bid has now been boosted and will now engage into an tough race with Nzioka Waita of CCU, Johnson Muthama of UDA and Rose Mulwa of ELP.
