Kenyan presidential aspirant and billionaire Jimmy Wanjigi has come out to reveal how the government overtook his project with the Chinese investors.

While speaking,he says that the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) was initially his project back in 2018 and it was meant to cost about Sh 55 billion from Mombasa to Malaba.

"SGR was a projected birthed by me in 2008, with China Road and Bridge,we spent money on visibility. The intention was for it to be a private rail, government was to lease the land. The project cost was Ksh 55 B from Mombasa to Malaba,"he said.

"After 2013,the SGR became a project not worth Ksh 55B between Mombasa and Malaba and became over Ksh 330 B from Mombasa to Nairobi. The intention was not to take tax payers money for the project,"he added.

Wanjigi will be contesting for the presidential seat using Raila Odinga's party ODM where he will be facing the veteran politician during party nominations.
