Details have now emerged on what Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, is currently doing in the Azimio Coalition as they set to prepare for a tough battle with President William Ruto in 2027.
In a statement via Nation on Twitter, it is reported that the former Vice President is pushing for Mr Odinga to take up former President Uhuru Kenyatta's role as the Coalition's Chairman so that he can automatically become the party's supremo.
By assuming as the Coalition's leader, Mr Musyoka is hopeful to be announced as their presidential candidate in 2027 after having supported Raila for three consecutive times.
"Sources in the alliance say Mr Musyoka is pushing Mr Odinga to take up Mr Kenyatta’s council chairmanship role so that the Wiper leader can become the party supremo. By assuming the coalition’s leadership position, Mr Musyoka hopes to be the automatic presidential candidate in 2027," read the statement.
However, it is reported that top politicians in Raila Odinga's inner circle have rejected Mr Musyoka's proposal saying that Raila will remain as the Coalition's leader and 2027 presidential candidate unless he decides to opt out of the State House bid.
