The 2022 General Election voting part is now over and the remaining task is to tally the votes and transmit the results to the National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to announce publicly.
However, the voting day has been full of so many claims and information that the ordinary Kenyan cannot independently verify. There were fights whereby people got injured such as a National Youth Service personnel who was caught in a commotion at a polling station in Tudor. The Star reported that, "NYS officer injured during chaos in Tudor."
In other instances a gun was also drawn by Rarienda MP aspirant Neto Adhola who fired in the air during clashes with supporters of his rival Otiende Amolo forcing voters to scamper for safety. However, the police responded very quickly and disarmed the aspirant.
This is according to a report by the Star that read, "Supporters of Neto Adhola and MP Otiende Amolo clash at Ruma polling station in North Uyoma over voter bribery."
Today, lawyer Donald B. Kipkorir also made some vote rigging allegations without providing any evidence.
On his twitter page he wrote, "There are rumors Ugandans with Kenyan IDs and voters cards crossed the border to vote for UDA candidate in Trans Nzoia. If true, Kenya must summon Uganda High Commissioner for Démarche. We can't allow interference with our democratic process and the imported voters be arrested."
Robert Alai upon seeing Kipkorir's tweet brought up his January 5th claims about the same issue. Alai's tweet posted eight months ago read, "I said it. The NIS and DCI Kenya should investigate why many people from Uganda are suddenly getting imported into Mount Elgon and given Kenyan IDs."
Donald B. Kipkorir.
It is not clear where Alai got information in January that some Ugandans were being given Kenyan IDs. Alai should have personnally lodged the complaint to the said organisations in person rather than complaining on twitter. Kipkorir who is a lawyer may know how to gather evidence and present it to the court or police and should do so.
