Chebukati On A Hot Seat As Abdulswamad Nassir Plans to Move to Court Over Postponement Of Election

The chairman of IEBC Wafula Chebukati has postponed elections that were scheduled to be done on 23rd, August 2022.

While speaking to reporters today, Chebukati said the elections have been postponed to a further notice date which he didn't say. Chebukati alleged the move was due to the harrassment by the IEBC officials.

Although the aspiring gubernatorial candidate for Mombasa county under ODM party ticket Abdulswamad Nassir while speaking to reporters today evening, he has not taken the news lightly and he has alleged he will be moving to court.

Nassir has claimed that someone cannot wake up and just declare the postponement of elections without following the set procedures.

"The law is very clear about postponing the election, you cannot just wake up and decide to postpone it, haiwezekani" Nassir said.

"We will go to court, we are going to expect an order that the elections will be held on the stipulated date, We demand the election be done on Tuesday. We are also demanding answers as to why they were postponed," Nassir added.
