Migori county governor, Okoth Obado, disclosed that it is his time for him to take over the kingship of Nyanza region. He said that he qualifies for the position. The governor also said that old age was quickly catching up Raila Odinga and therefore he was supposed to retire and support him.
The governor had earlier celebrated the hitches that were facing the BBI report arguing that it cannot solve the problems facing Kenyans. Obado said that they were forced to support BBI report unconditionally, failure to which the government would intimidate them.
The Migori governor seems not to backslide in his kingpin quest. This is after he hosted a meeting of leaders from Western Kenya led by the senator of Kakamega, Cleophas Malala. A number of MCAs from Western region were also present in the meeting.
The details of this meeting have been disclosed by Malala through a Tweet. They discussed on a possible alliance between ANC party and PDP ahead of 2022 polls.
"Led a host of ANC MCAs and Officials for a courtesy call on PDP Party Leader and Migori County Governor Hon Okoth Obado at his Rapogi Home. We jointly agreed to not only advance but also nurture a good working relationship between @anc_party and PDP ahead of the 2022 general elections." Tweeted Malala.
This is a clear signal that Obado may be no longer interested in ODM party and he is set to launch competition against Raila Odinga. This step may reduce the influence of the former prime minister in the Nyanza region which might affect his 2022 presidential votes.
