Meru council of elders known as Njuri Ncheke have turned against Raila Odinga after they withdrew their support from Kiraitu Murungi to support the governor elect of Meru Kawira Mwangaza. The elders apologized for their past mistakes and the critics they put on her as they promised to stand with her as she plans to form the next government of Meru county. The elders had earlier on endorsed Murungi as their preferred candidate but that was changed immediately Mwangaza won.
Speaking at their shrine, the council disagreed to a statement that they had supported Raila Odinga in the just concluded elections. They said that they had only blessed him and not endorsing him. They then said that whoever will be announced as president by the Supreme Court is the one they will support.
The announcement of the Njuri Ncheke came just after the outgoing governor for Murang'a County Kivuta Kibwana joined Kenya Kwanza. The last few days have been hard for Raila as he has lost many supporters to William Ruto. He however hopes that the petition in court will be a success. Follow the page for more news updates daily.
