After the Ceremony, President Uhuru Kenyatta took time to address the residents of Nakuru sending them a coded message about the upcoming general elections in 2022.
While speaking, President Kenyatta, warned the Nakuru residents of making hasty decisions in choosing their next leader. Uhuru cited that people should not come to them urging them to elect young leaders and leave out the old ones.
He said that those perceived old are the best. He compared leadership with a race where he said that the young runners, run with speed where they later fail to finish the race but for the old they move with a convenient pace which makes them finish the race strong.
"Msiambiwe ati Huyu Ni Mzee au Hafai Kuongoza , Uongozi ni ubongo bana ,Haitaki speed utahema na ushindwe kumaliza mbio " President Uhuru Said.
Uhuru's Message was perceived to be indirectly campaigning for Raila Odinga who accompanied him in the Ceremony, hitting out at his Deputy, William Ruto who he had been accusing of being against his handshake with the Orange Democratic Party Leader Raila Odinga.
