The head of state, President William Ruto, is now facing the most challenging task he has never faced before. Mr. Ruto, who is at the time of giving slots jobs to his allies, is in a big headache as the slots are running out and the allies are still many; there are only two weeks remaining, and other members will gnash their teeth because slots are few for expansive hopefuls.
Mr. President still has a list of 224 applicants, many of whom are loyalists who supported his presidential bid but who gained traction in the last election and are waiting for appointment as the Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS). They made it a poll of the 5000 people who applied for the position. But due to the runout of slots, some will have to miss the job.
According to the report, the only slots remaining are just 22, and the line is still long for one in each ministry. However, the final number will be at the president's discretion. Where some will miss, they may land in ambassadorial roles.
Among those in line waiting are members from Nyanza regions who were promised by the deputy president to have posts in Ruto's government. In regard to his sentiment on Sunday, he said those who stood with the president before the election will be considered more favourable than those who jump on board after his victory. Gachagua said.
