"Chebukati's Power Is Limited" Says Lawyer Mwangi As He Tells Court Grave Mistake Chebukati Made

As hearing for Presidential petition proceeds at Milimani Law Court, Supreme Court of Kenya Azimio- One Kenya legal team insists IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati power is limited.

Speaking during the proceeding, Raila Odinga lawyer Paul Mwangi said Mr Wafula Chebukati decisions to declare William Ruto President elect in just concluded August Nineth generals elections was not in unison agreement with others commissioners.

To him, the power vested on IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to declare the results of Presidential elections does not in anyway gives him the any power to decide what the results will be.

Therefore as a Azimio team if IEBC cannot show Kenyans how the commission reached the decision to what was announced on August, 15, then the Court should use same reasoning to befell the Chairman.

"The power given to the Chairman of IEBC to declare the results of an elections in no way gives him any power to decide what that results will be." He noted.

The IEBC commissioners spilt with Vice Chairman Juliana Cherera and 3 other commissioners disowning results while Chebukati and 2 of IEBC commissioner stating the elections was free, fair and justifiable.
