According to a local publication, a vocal senator from Ruto's North Rift region who frequently defends him on social media panicked and fled to his village after his governor expressed interest in his position.
The second-term governor, who is a supporter of Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga, has declared that he will run on the Azimio La Umoja ticket, a move that has alarmed Senator Murkomen. He is said to be fully immersed in the village, a departure from his previous approach of remaining in Nairobi.
Murkomen must be frightened that Tolgos, as the current governor, is completely aware of the terrain.
Murkomen, as a Ruto friend, had an advantage in defending his seat, but with the addition of a formidable opponent, he must now campaign extensively.
