The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is under pressure due to accusations of election rigging made by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya.
The flagbearer for Azimio la Umoja, Raila Amollo Odinga, has accused the commission of plotting to influence the elections on August 9. The former prime minister has maintained that both manual and digital registers must be present for the upcoming general elections in order to proceed. The Azimio camp has united in opposition to the commission and is now demanding that the handwritten registers be the unavoidable need for the upcoming elections.
"With manual registers in every polling place, it will be simpler to determine the number of voters than with an electronic register, which wipes out all records. This is no longer negotiable; the commission must use manual registers or there will be no election." In Githunguri, Raila made the remark.
