Interior Permanent Secretary, Karanja Kibicho on Friday, 21 May asked government administrators to work hand in hand with security agencies to uproot out the practice of hiring youth groups to cause chaos and disrupt Political rallies conducted by rival camps. His statement comes at a time when there have been a recent attempts to disrupt Azimio la Umoja one Kenya rallies in Kirinyaga County.
“Kirinyaga is a peaceful county and our people are civilized and hospitable. We cannot allow a handful of hooligans to cause chaos here and taint the good reputation of our county,” PS Karanja Kibicho said.
However, responding to Kibicho's order to crack whip on hecklers and those paid goons, Kenya Kwanza Alliance allied Lawyers, Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Canada based lawyer Miguna Miguna have dismissed an order by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho directing the police to crack the whip on hired individuals who are being used by few selfish politicians to cause mayhem in opponent's rallies and campaigns.
Through his Twitter account, Lawyer Ahmednasir reminded that PS Kibicho has no legal authority to direct the office of the Inspector general of police to stop hecklers since it is an independent entity within the constitution. Exiled Lawyer Miguna also echoed on the same by saying that heckling is a political right to which every Kenyan since every individual have freedom of expression.
