Through his official Facebook page Ruto described the deceased as a dedicated spiritual leader.
"Bishop Mercy Wairimu Mwangi (Mercy Waciama), the founder of Embracing Evangelistic Church, Thika, was a dedicated minister and spiritual leader who touched many, especially via her TV ministry," said the deputy president.
"She rendered exceptional service to her followers. May the good Lord grant her mercy, eternal peace and comfort her family during this difficult time," he added.
