The swearing in of the third governor of Nairobi County has occurred today at the Kenyatta international convention centre (KICC). This follows the impeachment of the former Nairobi Governor Hon Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Since December 2020, Hon Kananu has been the acting Nairobi following the ouster of Mike Mbuvi Sonko. Anne Kananu was cleared to succeed Hon Sonko after the Supreme Court dismissed Hon Sonko's appeal that challenged hon Kanunu's appointment.

She was nominated by Mike Sonko in January 2020 after which she was vetted by County Assembly. After vetting, she was subsequently appointed as the deputy governor of Nairobi County.

After taking the oath, Hon Kananu has promised to deliver a package that will help Nairobi recover from disruptions that were caused by Covid 19 hence bettering lives of all Nairobia residents.
