"We Agree With Chebukati" Cherera And Four Other Commissioners Speak Out After Court's Ruling

After the court confirmed Ruto's victory, the IEBC chairman issued a statement in which the four Commissioners who rejected the presidential results announced by Chebukati expressed their opinions. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said in a public statement that it was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Chebukati added that nobody had been brought to justice for the harassment, intimidation, abductions, and gruesome killings his employees had endured.

Commission members also expressed appreciation to the legal team for protecting the organization and safeguarding Kenyans' right to self-determination.

Madam Cherera, Mrs. Masit, Francis Wanderi, and Julius Nyang'aya have all thanked the legal team that fought it out before the Supreme Court in reaction to Chebukati's comments.

The four Commissioners announced their unanimous support for Chebukati's statement, which was released shortly after the Supreme Court's ruling, in a press release dated September 6th.

"We also state here that we agree with the statement of the Chairperson of the Commission which was sent to the media yesterday. We wish to reiterate that we stand by rule of law and statutes that promote the effectiveness of the work of the Commission," reads part of the statement signed by the four.
