During his tour of the area over the weekend, Ruto made fun of Igathe while trying to get people to vote for Kenya Kwanza candidate Johnstone Sakaja. Igathe was backed by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The head of the UDA said that the former DG of Nairobi has no other goals than to speak English well and wear glasses.
Ruto said that Igathe was like another Azimio leader, Maina Kamanda, "without his English and glasses."
"Naomba kura ya Sakaja hapa Nairobi." Pale Juzi kwa interview nani alionekana hana degree? Ukiondoa kizungu na miwani kwa huyo Jamaa (Igathe) anabaki kama Kamanda... "
Sakaja and Igathe will be fighting for the top job in Kenya's capital. This seems to be a battle between the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio Top leadership for supremacy.
As you can see below, Kenyans on social media have been talking about what the DP said about the Azimio candidate.
