Political analyst Herman Manyora claimed it has been easy to turn Mt Kenya region against Raila because the past presidential elections have been primarily a Kikuyu-Luo competition.
Now that Raila is working with Mt Kenya kingpin, President Uhuru Kenyatta, Manyora claimed that the poison that was planted in the region that Raila is the enemy is slowly being reduced.
“The Luos and Kikuyus are the most political communities in the country and their rival is always the issue. Because Raila is a Luo, it is very easy to demonize him. That poison planted around the mountain is likely to be reduced by Raila’s grassroots mobilization skills and being supported by Uhuru,” said Manyora.
The political analyst claimed that Raila’s skills of wooing people and the support of the State and President Uhuru, he can finally get the percentage he needs from Mt Kenya that can increase his chances of emerging victorious in 2022.
Though Raila has not publicly declared he will be in the presidential race, Manyora said with Mt Kenya not having a presidential candidate, Raila can manage to get 30 percent of the support he needs.
“The people he has always been running against have been people from the mountain. In the absence of State power being against Raila and in the absence of a Kikuyu candidate, Raila can get 30 percent that he needs from the mountain?” said Manyora.
