Outgoing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati continues to get different messages as he exits office after overseeing three elections.In this regard,Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out to comment on the same.
Taking to his official Twitter account,the vocal legislator has hailed Chebukati as being a patriotic man who deserves to be applauded.He advised that the government led by President Ruto ought to appoint the former electoral chair in a top state job."The outgoing IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati should be appointed to govt to continue serve Kenyans,"read the tweet in part.
The staunch President Ruto supporter opined that Chebukati is a person with principles.In this regard,he stated that he will serve Kenyans to his best capability as he can't be easily compromised.Cherargei added that this was evident in the past general elections.He alleged that Chebukati stood strong amidst intimidation from the state."He cannot be intimidated nor blackmailed.He is man with strong resolve he can't be swayed,"added Cherargei.
This comes at a time when the outgoing IEBC chair met with President Ruto together with other independent offices' commissioners.Chebukati has in the recent few days been engaged in meetings as he plans to exit office.He has in the past revealed that the past general elections saw their lives in danger being one of the most difficult on the commissioner.He has been hailed by President Ruto and his allies as being a patriot who stood for the will of the people in the August 2022 polls.What is your take on these comments by Cherargei?
