Outgoing National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) chairman Lewis Nguyai has officially handed over the leadership of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Board of Management to Eng Michael Kamau. Therefore President William Ruto appointed a former Transport CS Eng Michael Kamau to chair the National Health Insurance Fund board of management. Report indicates that he was appointed on December 23. Kamau will be at the helm of NHIF for three years, effected December 23.
Worryingly the head of state revoked the appointment of Lewis Nguyai who has officially handed over today on December 30,2022. Nguyai was appointed by the former president Uhuru Kenyatta. He was appointed in February 2022.
Kamau was suspended from Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet on March 28,2015 and was charged in June 2015 with two counts of abuse of office and failure to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines relating to management of public funds.
