During the 9th August 2022 general elections, the presidential seat was hotly contested between the Kenya Kwanza alliance and the Azimio One Kenya Alliance. Willam Ruto emerged the winner in the election after getting 7.176M votes and Raila Odinga got 6.9M votes.
The Azimio One Kenya Alliance led by former prime minister Raila Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have taken their oversight role to critize the government. William Ruto and his deputy seems to be luring Kalonzo Musyoka to their side and they revealed to have had a conversation with him to join their side.
Kalonzo Musyoka while speaking at the burial of Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa's mother, said that he too does not understand Gachagua and they have never shared a conversation. The Wiper leader called out the government to stop politicizing relief food to gain political mileage but they should instead invite Raila Odinga to flag off the relief food to drought stricken areas so that it can be out of goodwill.
