The presidential race in Kenya has attracted deputy president William Ruto on one side, the handshake team led by president Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement Leader Raila Odinga, and One Kenya Alliance Principals on the other side. One Kenya Alliance is led by Amani national Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford_kenya leader Moses Wetangula, Kanu leader Gideon Moi and former minister Cyrus Jirongo.
However hot contest is expected between deputy president William Ruto and handshake team led by Raila Odinga. The duo have been facing each other head-on on their campaign trail for the past few months now. While speeking in Kakamega county, he deputy president on Friday said that the team can only beat him if it succeeds to settle on one candidate, failure to which he will be declared winner by mid morning. The deputy president also bashed the team for wasting too much time working on alliances rather than organising itself to face him.
" Of all these gentlemen isn't there one who can face me? let them unite and pick a candidate because the only way they can shave a contest with is if they unite but if they come separately, I will defeat them very early in the morning, " the second in command said.
William Ruto also urged his close competitors to come up with their own economic model and agenda and give Kenyans an alternative if they think that his agenda of bottom up isn't the best for people. " They should get their own plan like our 'Bottom up and stop criticising it. Let them get an alternative. It is not enough to criticise it, you need to come up with your own," deputy president William Ruto said while in Kakamega. His statement is similar to the one he made in Lamu county just the same week that he will defeat ODM leader Raila Odinga very early in the morning if they fail to unite.
