As Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Mama Rachel Ruto celebrates her 53rd birthday today on November 20th 2021, there are lots of Kenyans (from her immediate family to some whom she barely knows or doesn't even know) that have already sent her colourful messages wishing her the best of luck and happiness in life.

We've even seen a heartwarming birthday message from her son, Nick Ruto as well as several others from DP Ruto's friends and workers but one notable individual who has penned a powerful essay celebrating her is a man named Samuel Gateri Wanjiru.

Samuel Gateri alias Sam Terriz who works for the DP in the communications team and who gained fame after being charged together with Dennis Itumbi, (then later acquitted) over DP Ruto's fake assassination letter has taken to Facebook to celebrate Mama Rachel Ruto on her special day in a special way.

His message started that "today I want to celebrate one woman who is going to make the finest First Lady this country has ever had, Her Excellency Rachel Ruto."

That "she reminds me of my grandmother. It is the prayer of my grandmother that has kept our family going. She wakes up diligently at 5am every morning and gets on her knees to pray, before her daily chores. A prayerful woman is the pillar that holds her family together.

When Mama Rachel met her husband in college, he had nothing to his name. William Ruto was a son of a nobody. A man the women of my generation wouldn't care to look at twice.

He was a lay preacher at the University of Nairobi, carrying his bible everywhere he went. I know so many young women would find who carries a bible around college embarrassing even to look at, yet Rachel saw something in this son of Sugoi that others couldn't see.

During the holiday, William was a hawker in Eldoret. I don't know how many women with some education would date a hawker, yet there she was, her infectious smile keeping William going.

Perhaps Rachel had been approached by sons of nobility while in college but I know she turned them down. Because only Rachel could see something in the son of a nobody.

When William built his first house, a ramshackle of a structure that still stands today, Rachel was by his side. I can picture Mama Rachel as a young woman preparing tea on a stove in that small house.

Although they had nothing, they had each other and that is all that mattered. I can see them starting their family together, having their first child Nick Ruto, struggling like any ordinary Kenyan. Rachel has stuck by William Samoei Ruto side.

I celebrate Mama Rachel because she is no ordinary woman. Women like her come from God. I celebrate this wonderful woman of God. I celebrate her humility, tenacity, perseverance.

It is unfortunate there are a few women like her in my generation. And I believe that when all is said and done, you Mama Rachel will make a fine First Lady. Happy birthday Mama Rachel Ruto."

Below are some other timeless photos that Sam shared in which he's seen posing with Mama Rachael Ruto.
