Defiant Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Engineer Alex Tolgos has officially launched his senatorial campaigns in Elgeyo Marakwet county.
The Governor, who will be facing of with UDA candidate Kipchumba Murkomen for the county's senatorial post launched his campaigns on Saturday and is expected to crisscross the county in look for Azimio la Umoja votes.
Unlike other Azimio leaders from the Rift Valley and Mt Kenya regions, Tolgos featured the photos of his presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate alongside his campaign photos.
He paraded his Jubilee party branded vehicles on Iten town before setting out in look for votes.
While attending Martha Karua's Azimio la Umoja meeting recently in Eldoret town, Tolgos said the region's kingpin William Ruto had lost solid ground in the Rift Valley and that over 40% of the votes from the region will go to Azimio la Umoja basket in August.
“From the kind of reception Karua has been given, it's clear this region is no longer anyone's stronghold. Last time Odinga got about 25 per cent but come August 9, he will amass more than 40 per cent," said Tolgos at Huruma grounds Eldoret.
According to many opinion polls from the region, Tolgos will have a uphill task to convince voters to vote for him. Senator Kipchumba Murkomen seems to be the person to beat in the county.
