One Kenya Alliance (OKA) and Mt Kenya Unity Forum are putting together a potential "third force" ahead of the 2022 General Election, which will pit Deputy President William Ruto against ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
In Nairobi, OKA leaders met with National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi (Democratic Party), Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo yesterday.
As the clock ticks down to the next elections, Mr Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Mr Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress), Mr Gideon Moi (Kanu), Mr Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya), and Mr Cyrus Jirongo (United Democratic Party) are all eager on capturing a piece of the vote-rich Mt Kenya bloc.
Dr. Ruto and Mr. Odinga have already accomplished a lot in the region. Ms Karua said they met "to explore prospects of working together" during a press conference at Hermosa Gardens in Nairobi after their first encounter.
The two sides agreed to form a subcommittee of the extended alliance's component parties to study collaboration options.
