The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice Chair Juliana Cherera has resigned.
She is among the four commissioners suspended by President William Ruto from office four electoral after being accused of being rogue.
In a statement, on Monday, December 5, she noted that her stay is no longer tenable due to the current situation.
Dr Ruto announced the formation of the tribunal in a Gazette notice dated December 2.
"It is with immense woe that today I tender my resignation as commissioner and vice chairperson of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Juliana and her group had alleged that Chebukati altered the results in favour of President William Ruto, and as a result, disenfranchised Ruto’s main competitor Raila Odinga
"Since joining the commission, I have dispensed my duties diligently, meticulously and put a spirited effort in helping the commission deal with corporate governance issues under very difficult circumstances. As vice chairperson, I always advocated for fair treatment and equal opportunity for all staff.
While on her suspension, Juliana and her group won’t be allowed to dispense their duties, but will be paid half of their monthly salaries
"I sincerely thank His Excellency Hon. Dr. William Samoei Arap Ruto, The President of the Republic of Kenya for the opportunity accorded to me to serve the republic. God bless." She added.
