President William Ruto continues to reward his loyalists by appointing former Kajiado South MP, Katoo Ole Metito as state house Comptroller. Metito takes over from Kinuthia Mbugua who served under former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Metito was defeated by ODM's Joseph Ole Lenku, in Kajiado gubernatorial race in the August 9 polls.
The elevation of Metito was confirmed by the outgoing head of public service, Joseph Kinyua, on Friday, October 14. The new role that Metito will be charged with will include managing finances and administration at the State House. He will also act as Ruto's private secretary which makes him responsible for handling Ruto's diary and other functions of a private secretary.
Metito served as an MP for Kajiado South for two terms since 2013. His role as the state house Comptroller is important in ensuring Ruto delivers on his promises to Kenyans. With his new job, he will also work with Ruto's doctors to ensure that the President's health checks are scheduled and undertaken. Metito will work closely with the newly appointed chief of staff and head of public service Felix Koskei.
Former Turkana Governor, Josphat Nanok who is the deputy chief of staff will also work closely with Metito to properly execute assigned duties at the State house. The position is among the most powerful in the country as one gets to interact with the President on a personal level. Metito hold a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nairobi. He also graduated with a higher Diploma in Management of Information Systems at Strathmore University.
