The Only Record Breaking Kenyan President Who Never Politicked In Church Despite Long Term Service

Bishop Silas Yego, the former priest and bishop of the African Inland Church(AIC) has always been known as a vibrant and close friend to the former President of Kenya, President Daniel Torotich Arap Moi. In an exclusive interview with KTN news on 1st of August 2021, the former bishop described Moi as one of the most remarkable presidents in the Kenyan history.

In his talk about the former president, the long serving bishop described him as the most devout Christian presidents he has ever seen. Yego who reiterated that he met Moi twice during his time at AIC where Moi used to fellowship said Moi never spoke about politics in church rather restricted himself to speaking about the word of God. He would rather speak about politics off the church but not in church.

Yego further compared the current politicans to the former president, he went ahead to rebuke the current Kenyan politicians of being too much into negative politics and even bringing their political rivalry in church. As the interview progressed, Yego recalls receiving a letter from Moi that dated back to 1945 declaring that the former president had dedicated his life to Jesus Christ.

Bishop Yego who retired from his priestly duties in 2019 after being in service for over 18 years. The former bishop is currently at his home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County where he practices farming and also preaches at a local church in Kitale. He still recalls Moi as the most devout Christian presidents in Kenya, surpassing the other presidents in faith, according to him.
