Justina Wamae, a former vice presidential candidate for the Roots party, has reprimanded those who have criticized outgoing IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Wamae believed Chebukati had done his duty and deserved to go out in peace.
She continued by inquiring of Chebukati's detractors whether they believed that he would have fared better if he had acceded to the purported demands of the "deep state."
"According to certain KEs, Chebukati will never experience true peace. A1: If he followed orders from the deep state to write "4" on the ballot, wouldn't the opposite be true if he had won? Let the man go in peace after his hard work "said Wamae on Tuesday.
On January 17, the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will leave the organization following a six-year, non-renewable term.
Along with Molu Boya and Commissioner Yakub Guliye, Chebukati is leaving the electoral authority.
There have been calls for Raila Odinga's arrest from some opposition leaders and supporters due to what they claim was rigging of the general election on August 9, 2022, in favor of President William Ruto.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has also demanded that he be charged with crimes related to the election.
He declared, "In my opinion, Mr. Chebukati is a criminal who should be charged with a crime and given a jail sentence."
He has committed a serious crime against humanity and the citizens of this nation.
