Recently, the outgoing governor of Meru County who lost to Mrs Kawira Mwangaza joined the president elect's team Kenya Kwanza. Speaking at Ruto's Karen residence, Murungi stated clearly that his party ( Devolution Empowerment Party) otherwise known as Bus party had joined the Kenya Kwanza camp.
Things have however turned upside down for the outgoing governor after members of Meru County Assembly elected on DEP denounced his move and reiterated their support for Raila's Azimio team.
Speaking after a delegate's meeting with Raila Odinga and Martha Karua the leaders led by Sarah Kilemi and Joyce Muria said that "DEP is a party of members, if some members have left, the party still remains in Azimio," they said.
CS Peter Munya while addressing the media argued that Azimio had taken three MP seats and 31 MCA seats out forty five making it the most popular party in Meru County. The announcement by the MCAs marks the beginning of a tussle over the control of the party.
