The last few days have been clouded by widespread speculation that the Deputy President of Kenya Mr. William Samoei Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are lining up the possibility of a 2022 Pact to take on Uhuru's One Kenya Alliance.
The reports emerged after the Deputy President was pictured in the company of Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. The reports had Indicated that Oparanya had been sent by Raila Odinga to chart the possibility of a handshake between the two.
After weeks of widespread speculation, the Deputy President's camp has today come clean on the rumored pact with the ODM leader. According to a report by the Star newspaper, the Deputy President's camp has denied any reports of a possible pact. According to Ruto's director of communications, the Deputy President has not sent anyone to speak to ODM leader Raila Odinga. He also denied reports that the Deputy President's had met Raila's people to chat about the possibility of a handshake.
